Google Launches Instant Preview To Make Searching Easier

It’s only been about two months since Google launched their latest search engine feature, Google Instant, making it faster and easier than ever to get the results you’re looking for.
A few days ago, they launched yet another small but handy feature that will make it easy to filter through those results and determine which one is right for you, using Instant Previews.

On your search results page, each item is accompanied by a little magnifying glass. Clicking on the icon will activate the Instant Preview feature, and you will need to activate the feature for each search instance.

A small screenshot of the website will be displayed on the Google search page, displaying the general layout of the page, simply by hovering over each search result.

In an attempt to make things as easy as possible for you, Google has implemented keyboard shortcuts for accessing Instant Preview. Use the up and down arrow keys to navigate between search results, and the right arrow key to display the preview.
To see Google Instant Previews in action, check out the video below.

Are you using Google Instant Preview? Let us know what you think of it in the comments.

3 Tools To Highlight Google Search Terms On The Target Page

We search and click through search results a lot, as this is an essential part of our browsing. Sometimes we are able to quickly see what we were looking for on the target page but more often than not we have to scroll down back and forth to find the exact part of the page that brought us there from the Google search results page.
Having the search terms highlighted on the target page will increase your browsing speed dramatically. This way you can quickly locate the most relevant part of the page and find the required information.
There are three tools that can highlight search terms on the page you land on.  Read on to find out about them.

1. Google Toolbar Highlighter

If you have the Google toolbar installed, you may be using its handy highlight feature:
  • It highlights each search term in a different color within the Google search results page;
  • It highlights each search term in a different color on each result page you go from SERPs;
  • It highlights each search term in a different color on each webpage you visit (even when a click did not originate from Google) as long as the highlighter in the toolbar is activated.
  • You can click through the terms which occurred on a page using the toolbar:

2. Word Highlight (Greasemonkey)

Word Highlight is a Greasemonkey script which can be a nice alternative to the Google toolbar (in case you don’t want to install it):
  1. It highlights each search term in a different color within the Google search results page;
  2. It highlights each search term in a different color on each result page you go from SERPs;
  3. You can click through the terms which occurred on a page using the toolbar;
  4. It displays a “heat” map of all colored search terms on a page:
To change the colors to whatever you want, you can edit the script:
  • Select Tools -> Greasemonkey -> Manage user scripts;
  • Choose “Word highlight” in the left-hand panel;
  • Click “Edit”. This should open the installed version of the script in your favorite text editor (if it doesn’t, choose any text editor to open the script);
  • Scroll down to the following line and edit all the colors (for example, you can set one color for all different search terms to make the output less colorful):

3. Google Quick Scroll (Google Chrome)

Google Quick Scroll is a Google Chrome extension that scrolls the target page right to the place you saw in Google snippet:
  • It works only if the search terms are hard to locate on the page you landed on after clicking through from the search result listing: it appears on the bottom-right corner of the page, showing one or more bits of text from the page that are relevant to your query. Clicking on the text will take you to that part of the page.
  • It highlights the part of the page that looks most relevant to your initial query.

    integrate_web_windows pt outlook Integrate web for reference on desktop offline Microsoft,Adobe products
    The software is 3.2mb in size and is the world’s first “selection-based search” system given the name Kallout which is a complete freeware.You can access the web and integrate them on your offline documents which serves as excellent reference material for any purpose.Lets move on to check some of it’s web features

    • Place the Search bar anywhere on your desktop for quick and easy access
    • Customize the Search Bar keyboard shortcut using the Settings option
    • Smart Best Guess search suggestions feature
    • Select any word or phrase and access additional content without leaving the page

    Paypal India Discontinuing Electronic Bank Transfer

    Another unexpected announcement from PayPal (for Indians): You’ll not be able to request Electronic fund transfer from your PayPal account starting July 29, 2010.
    I’ve put this BIG news in one plain sentence, I know, but I am out of words to explain this news in any better way. This is simply unacceptable. And with India known as an IT super power house where part of people make their living with online money, this will create a havoc among Indian PayPal users.
    Paypal India Stops Electronic Bank Transfer 2010
    It was pretty obvious when the e-mail was inboxed at 5am from the PayPal team, the obvious thing: its a bad news. I can’t recollect any good news shared by PayPal to the Indian users other than fixing the issue dealt with Indian authorities in the past.
    However, on a positive note, Indian users can still request a cheque with $5 fee waived off from the amount. Although the check withdrawal in India is a slow process, but with such limitations imposed by Paypal, you’re left with no choice.
    Here is the e-mail for your reference on how to withdraw cheque from your Paypal account.

    What’s your say on this? Don’t you think we need an alternative payment processing system?

    Yahoo! to improve Yahoo Mail Service. Project Codename: Minty!

    It looks like Yahoo has finally woken up to the fact that its mail service is on a downward spiral at the moment. This is evident from the fact that this fall Yahoo Mail will be revamped. Yahoo! not only aims to bring in more users with this much needed facelift but also plans to improve browsing experience on slow connections.
    The new Yahoo mail project is code-named (and quite appropriately too!) ‘Minty’, will improve the web based email service. The Wall Street Journal reports that the new Yahoo Mail will look like the iPad and Android versions of the service. Yahoo is also reportedly looking at a sleeker design and improved integration with social networking websites.

    And these changes may be necessary for Yahoo to make sure that it does not lose ground to either Gmail or Hotmail. Though Yahoo leads the both of them by more than a country mile in the US, the number of total Yahoo users has been going down, as has been reported by a ComScore study. Yahoo has lost about 10 million users in the period of one year, while worldwide; it has lost 7% of its user-base.
    In the same period Hotmail has gained 3% and Gmail has gained a whopping 22%, more users than last year. But these numbers are not the only source of worry for Yahoo.
    It has been reported that people in US spend more time on Facebook than Yahoo and Gmail. So there is a threat from these social networking services, which allow users to communicate without the need for email.
    Instead of trying to combat the tide, Yahoo has taken the wise option of riding with it. The company is having a partnership with Facebook, to give Mail users the power to update Facebook status from a Yahoo inbox.
    And then Yahoo has to address the rise of smartphones powered by Google’s Android, which usually are preloaded with Gmail. Android apps for Yahoo Mail and Messenger have been launched very recently and their impact is not yet known fully.
    So, it looks like a lot depends on this ‘Minty’ update!
